Autumn Falls
A first crisp breeze of Autumn falls with a setting Sun
So too do the senses pull inwards drawing light to dark
Delicate are the flowers petals, soft is Tea in hand
Fleeting is the wisps of incense, a longing to hold on
Just as water on a Dam goes still when day falls
So too does ineffable presence of night rise
As we grow as adults we lose the sight of a Child
Falling to the decay of Age, Remembering innocence once more
As Birth and Death and both one breath away
And yet an entire lifetime apart
In between we naively and stubbornly forget it all
In the end we remember all too clearly
It is not what can be seen that brings understanding
It is what cannot be witnessed that grows faith
It is not because we can control life that gives freedom
It is surrendering to life that is moving us beyond measure
Each moment is an opportunity to remind your heart
That it is a precious miracle to even be here, as you are
All the troubles of should I or shouldn’t I
Falsely holding the weight of the world
When perception changes side, the weight of the world holds us
And in this, we can let go and take a well deserved rest
Not just any old rest, but one of grand significance
A moment to see glory of creation in its magnificence
That all along we have been provided for
As the very air flowing in each lung
Is being moved by creation itself
And the magnitude of life moves in each small breath
It is easy to lose sight of what tethers us to a deeper
Sense of meaning of our human experience
And yet with each bowl of Tea quietly shared
It brings us together, reflecting all that we are.
